CLONE WARS TIMELINE
Source: Marvel Comics' Star Wars #24: Silent Drifting. Reprinted in Star Wars: A Long Time Ago...Volume 2 Author(s): Mary Jo Duffy, Carmine Infantino, Bob Wiacek, Petra Goldberg, and Rick Parker Publication Date: June 1979, Reprinted July 2002 General Kenobi has to save a ship from attacking slavers while on the way to Alderaan. Check out the Journey to Alderaan for more information.
Timeline note: Placement of this comic is conjectural. Phil Simon, editor of the collection, says that it occurred during peaceful times of the Republic (not during the Clone Wars.) Pablo Hidalgo says it was during the Clone Wars because Obi-Wan is referred to as a general. Obi-Wan's look in the comic suggests an older Alec Guinness Obi-Wan, rather than the younger Ewan McGregor Obi-Wan. The story is that Obi-Wan is on some kind of mission for Bail Organa. We know General Kenobi served him during the Clone Wars and it's likely that they still remained friends after the Jedi purge (that's obvious since Leia contacted him in Episode IV.) At any rate, we'll just stick this at the end of the timeline and let you make the call.

The story opens in the vicinity of the Dreighton Nebula, where Rookie One is part of a Rebel scouting patrol. He's investigating disappearances of Rebel spacecraft near Dreighton, a region rich with mythology about vanishing spacecraft. Legends of the region go back to the days when early hyperspace travelers lost their bearings and disappeared in the currents, eddies, and storms of the nebula. During the Clone Wars, two opposing combat fleets, at the height of battle, were swallowed up by the Dreighton Nebula, leaving it as the battle's only true victor. Now, pilots uneasily joke about the "ghosts" of those squadrons still roaming the nebula, eager to attack any vessel foolish enough to wander by. Check out the Battle of Dreighton for more info.
