June 8th, 2004: Clone Wars Season 3 is official!!!

A while ago, we reported that there were some rumors about a third season of the popular Clone Wars cartoons. Well, The Official Star Wars Site just confirmed it: More Clone Wars Cartoons are on the way! The rumors are sort of true. We won't be seeing 20, as had been reported by theforce.net. We're only getting five. However, each of those episodes are TWELVE minutes long, nearly four times the length of the first series. 5 minutes times 12 episodes equals an hour, meaning that Season 3 will be as long as both of the previous seasons combined! According to The Official Star Wars Site, Genndy Tartakovsky is once again leading the series,Clone Wars Season 3 is official!!! and it takes up the story right after Episode 20 left off. Although nothing is confirmed yet, it's probably a safe bet that we're going to see more of the characters from the first series, although TOS reports: The new mini-series will include an expanded role for Grievous. Hopefully, we'll see how some of those Jedi in that last episode survived. The series will air on Cartoon Network and Star Wars.com - Hyperspace from March 21st to March 25th, 2005.About a week ago, we asked you for your opinions of the series and the rumored third season. The responses that we got were very positive. People liked the series, liked the action, characters and artwork. Some even commented that it was better in some ways than the new movies. Click here to read some of those emails. The new Clone Wars series isn't the only news of the evening. In addition to that, The Official Star Wars Site announced the comics for September, of which Republic 69 is included. Entitled The Dreadnaughts of Rendili, this comic is the first of a short trilogy. The plot is thus: Republic #69 While Jedi Masters Saesee Tiin and Plo Koon fight to prevent a fleet of ships from falling into Separatist hands, Obi-Wan Kenobi discovers that the Separatists are not without dissension in their own ranks! On board the drifting hulk of a massive research ship, Obi-Wan finds himself taking sides with dark Jedi Quinlan Vos-who is wanted for the murder of a Senator-against another foe. Vos was once his friend, and the other enemy is one with whom Obi-Wan has crossed swords before. But has Obi-Wan been too hasty in deciding the lesser of two evils? Has Quin become the heartless killer everyone believes him to be? And will he help Obi-Wan escape the apparent death trap into which they fall, or abandon him to save his own skin? It looks like we'll be getting one helluva trilogy. Many fans all over have been wishing for fleet things, and it looks like we're going to be getting one. Plus with Quinlan Vos and Obi-Wan and some other Jedi and what's probably going to amount to some kick ass art and writing from the John/Jan team! Republic #69 is scheduled for release on September 29th! Update: John Ostrander said that contrary to some fan speculations, the Katana fleet/Dark Force will NOT be a part of this story arc. However, he did say that Jan Dodonna WILL be in this story arc. Regarding fleet battles, John Ostrander basically said that he is not going to say that there is or isn't one in this story arc. As a writer, he doesn't want to give away everything before you read the story. But he did say that Dark Horse will eventually post a five-page preview which should give some idea of what the story will be about. If we hear anything more we'll let you know. Stay tuned. Got news?
