May 27nd, 2004: Clone Wars Season 3? We want your opinions!
So, as we reported before, there have been some rumors that there might be a Season 3 of the Clone Wars cartoons. As a new feature on this site I am asking for your opinions.
The question is simple: Should there be a third season of Clone Wars? Why or why not?
Send your responses to
clonewars@starwarz.com with "MY TAKE ON THE CLONE WARS" as the subject heading. Please keep responses under 500 words, and be sure to include a byline. A week from today we will look through the responses and post 5 to 10 of them that are well thought out and representative of the different viewpoints on the matter.

May 22nd, 2004: Clone Wars Adventures comic preview and other Star War news!
Dark Horse.com has posted a preview of the Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures Vol. 1 TPB. This comic, inspired by the Clone Wars cartoons, will come out in July.
Click here to see the free preview!
In other Star Wars news it has been announced on Star Wars.com that DelRey's Star Wars novel contract has been extended through 2008! Eighteen books have been allotted for the three years from 2006 to 2008.
Click here for more information. Sue Rostoni has revealed that nine of those books will form a series set during the Old Republic era, around 1000 years or so before The Phantom Menace, to be written by three authors working closely with each other and the DelRey editors to avoid the inconsistency that was so rampant in the New Jedi Order series. Personally, I'm really excited about this!
Another thing I'm excited about is the finale of the Jedi Quest series! The young reader series set a few years before Attack of the Clones, will end with Book #10: The Final Showdown, which is due out in November.
Click here to see the cover and blurb for the book!
Recently I have been in contact with David Griffiths, who was the lead artist on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, for Playstation 2, GameCube, and X-BOX. His art totally rocks! Most of you have probably seen it already, but had no idea who was responsible for making it. Well, let's give him some recognition. You can visit his website and see his art at:

May 16th , 2004: A Whole Lotta News 2!...
Hello everyone, we're back, sort of. In the past month, we've been plagued by exams and the duties that are required of us off site. As a result, we really haven't been able to update as well as we would have liked. So, here's a big roundup that should bring you up to date on the happenings of the Clone WarsFirst, Timothy Zahn has a pair of short stories that are coming in the Star Wars Insider magazine. Entitled Changing Seasons the first short story appears in Issue # 76 called Guardian of the People. Expect a review and summery soon. In related news with Star Wars Insider, the magazine is now moving under direct Lucasfilm Limited control, and under a new company. The result is that you get a subscription of the magazine (reduced to six issues) and a year subscription to Hyperspace on the Official Site. The cost for this is about $40. Unfortunently, because of the move, the next issue will not have the column Holonet News. Issue 76's book column features Elizabeth Hand and her work with the Boba Fett series, and the Comic section features The Clone Wars Adventures, based off of the animated series. Apparently, the issues will go for the same style, with each issue featuring three stories, "each spotlighting unique characters battling on different galactic fronts in the war". The first issue will feature Obi-Wan and Anakin on a dark planet. The issue will also feature Mace Windu and Kit Fisto.
Speaking of the Clone Wars series, it seems that they were a big success, and rumors have been around that producers are now seeking out work for a third season of the series of Cartoon Shorts. If we hear anything about it, we'll be posting it up. Currently, there is no official word about a Clone Wars DVD, although it has been listed on Amazon.com's DVD page. For reviews of the second season, see them here:
Season 2 Reviews
A while ago, we announced the arrival of a new novel, Republic Commando, which is based off of the upcoming video game. The book, entitled Republic Commando: Hard Contact has just been announced at the official site, complete with a cover. You can see it
here. The basic plot is thus: A squad of four elite Clone Commandos are trapped behind enemy lines, forced to trust each other and strangers that they come across. Tasked to destroy a nanovirus facility, their mission goes very wrong, and they have no backup coming. From the very sound of it, it looks like there will be plenty of action to go around for us. Karen Traviss has visited some discussion forums, where she has said that the book will not be a complete adaptation of the game, rather an independant mission. She has also hinted that the difference between Commandos and ARC troopers will be explained a little. Aayla Secura and Quinlan Vos fans brace yourselves: Republic 68, due out later this year, will feature the new Clone Trooper armor that will be seen in Episode III. Entitled Armor, this issue features not only the new armor of the soldiers, but the emotional armor between Quinlan Vos and Aayla Secura. In the issue, Aayla and a Clone Commander will be searching for a secret Confederation weapon, and come across Quinlan. The result: A Quinlan and Aayla battle! Should be very very interesting. See the cover and plot here:
August 2004 Comics
In other Republic news, Dark Horse's
website has issued a preview for the next issue, Republic 65: Show of Force, where bounty hunters are told by the Jedi not to hunt them. This issue is done by the wonderful Duursema/Ostrander team and is due out in June. See the preview here:
Show of Force PreviewTOS just recently announced the release of an interesting book called Star Wars: Panel to Panel- From the Pages of Dark Horse Comcis to a Galaxy Far, Far Away. It looks like this one will be loaded with art from many of the Star Wars comics, and should have some behind the scenes information for those comic fans who like that sort of thing. This one is coming in September. In the same report, there's also some information on Free Comic Book Day, which is this summer, shortly after Spider Man 2 arrives in theaters. The offering this year will be a Clone Wars comic, drawn in the style of the cartoons, and has Grievous on the cover. Should be a little interesting.
To top off this update, Publisher Weekly has written up a superb review for Steven Barne's upcoming Clone Wars novel, The Cestus Deception. The book is out this June, and TUCWS will be getting reviews, summeries and an exclusive Interview with Steven Barnes, coming soon, so stay tuned!
