THE HISTORY OF THE UNOFFICIAL CLONE WARS SITE
I started this site on January 24, 2003. At first it was just a Microsoft Word document and all it had was the timeline. It included the six announced clone wars novels, the three Boba Fett books, and the Clone Wars console video game. Since certain events in the video game overlapped with events in Boba Fett: Crossfire, I decided to make a battles section with a summary of each battle. This was mainly to keep track of how Crossfire fit with the many battles in the video game. After it was up, I realized that it was not something I could complete on my own. So I asked around the Official message boards-and later on at some other forums-for help on the project. The idea for third section of the site, the characters section, was from one of those helpful people. Valin Kenobi said that he could put together a list of all the Clone Wars Jedi. After he had sent that to me and it was up for a few weeks, O-B-Gates had the idea of extending it all Clone Wars characters and not just Jedi. I thought it was a good idea and made sections for five other categories of characters. On April 24th, I realized that an entry could be made for every character detailing their Clone Wars exploits. As I am writing this, that last idea is still very much in the experimental stages. I can safely say that it will be a reality sometime in the future. When the news came out that the series of Animated Clone Wars shorts was official, I decided to create a news page for it and future announcements. Now it stands alone as the only place to get news relating specifically to the Clone Wars and nothing else. I hoped when I made the battles section that people would buy the sources. My hope was not in vain. A few short weeks after the battles page was up, I had bought Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaigns and all of the Clone Wars Republic comics that had been released--two things I was not planning on buying. After reading the Republic comics, I was so impressed that I also picked up Jedi: Mace Windu. I liked it so well that I began talking to it’s author, John Ostrander, on the TF.N message boards about comic script writing. The next thing I knew I was writing a script for my own fan issue of Jedi about Yoda! Thus the fan fiction section was born. No more than two weeks ago I was contacted by O-B-Gates. He said he had some ideas for changing the layout. I told him he could go ahead and work on it. We talk about it some more and he says that Mr. Bond is helping him. The next thing I know we have this professional looking site on StarWarz.com; the same place that hosts Nathan Butler’s Timeline Gold! Thank you everyone. This site has grown so much in the past three months and I hope it continues to grow in the future. --Paul Myers, April 24, 2003
