Author: Timothy Zahn Reviewed by Andrew Liptak
Summary: Taking place just after the events in the first story, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker move to destroy a secret Confederation facility that is developing a new type of weapon in the Clone Wars.
What Worked: This issue was a great finish to the first story. There are several things in this issue that really stood out. The first was that to me, these two stories seemed to be closer to the original Thrawn trilogy in places that some of Zahn's more recent novels. The pacing seemed a bit calmer, not really high on the fire fights, but more on the planning. Zahn's previous trilogy was also like this. In this story, we get to see the two Jedi take on an entire facility, but using their brains more than their lightsabers. The infiltration and destruction of the facility is excellently done, and that's not the end, as I had predicted after reading the first story. One of the machines that they're trying to destroy escapes, and there's a cool part about them actually tracking the thing down and capturing it. Again, with some cool tactics. The things that I most appreciated in this story, as I did with the first one was the local characters that Obi-Wan and Anakin had to deal with. They were the true neutral characters in the war, and they were drawn into something that they neither asked for nor wanted. It's hard to remember at times how much a war can do to people. Finally, the story was covered by another excellent rendition of Andrew Robinson's art.
What Didn't Work: Not much here.
Overall: An excellent conclusion to The Changing Season Duology.
