Summary: Following the events of Republic 69, Obi Wan Kenobi and Quinlan Vos are still pinned down on the Titavain IV, where they are being pursued by Skorr and Asajj Ventress. They manage to escape their would be captors and the ship, and head towards Rendili, where the Home Defense Fleet has captured Jedi Master Koon and several other Republic Officers. Just after they arrive, a Separatist fleet comes to reinforce the Home Defense Fleet.
What Worked: Once again, the usual Republic team have brought us top-of-the-line work in all categories. From the start of it's magnificent cover to the art inside, this issue once again tops the previous issues, and once again, I find it hard to believe that this is possible, and I wonder what's in store with the future issues. Like most trilogies, the second work can often be the most important, for it must carry the story towards it's conclusion, but must maintain and heighten the story that it continues. Republic 70 does all of this. We see Obi-Wan and Quinlan escape from their predicament, learn that they're being tracked, but not after some excellent lightsaber battles. The last half of the issue contains all of what Star Wars fans have been clamoring for, with a very cool space battle that is over all too soon, and with an annoying cliffhanger, of which I've come to despise since watching Farscape. Plus, we see several mentions of the Katana fleet, first mentioned in Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Force Trilogy. This issue is also bringing two major story lines together: Quinlan Vos's and Anakin Skywalker/Obi-Wan Kenobi's, of which have composed much of the Clone Wars comics. This is paving the way for several other story lines that have been announced, now we just have to wait and see them happen. The art and writing in this issue is outstanding, as usual from this team. They really carry a story and show it magnificently. I don't think that I can find anything new to add about this here.
What Didn't Work: Nothing major. Just that Anakin is still flying his horribly ugly ship, and that we have a cliffhanger, of which I cannot wait to see resolved.
Overall, An outstanding addition to the Dreadnaughts of Rendili Trilogy. Rating: 9/10
