Publisher: Dark Horse Comics Reviewed by Andrew Liptak
Summary: On the planet Iaadja, Anakin Skywalker, Obi Wan Kenobi and Master Tohno learned of a Confederation droid factory that had been placed there after Geonosis had fallen. Because of Tohno's training in Architecture and Engineering, she was assigned to place explosive charges at vital points at the factory to destroy it. Anakin and Obi-Wan were to lead a clone army to the factory as a diversion. This went as planned until Tohno was spotted and she was forced to destroy the factory before being able to leave. Anakin tried to save her, but she ordered him back and died in the explosion.
What Worked: Once again, Brandon Badeaux and Randy Stradley have done a magnificent job at crafting a Clone Wars tale for us all to read. The story was fairly straightforward, but was well done in it's telling. Storywise, it was a dark story, but it shows some interesting things that the Republic is doing during the war. First, it seems that they are becoming more and more willing to sacrifice more Jedi in missions that it undertakes. Tohno's job could have easily been replaced with an ARC trooper or Clone Commando, yet she was sent on a suicide mission. Art-wise, this issue was superb. Although Badeaux has only done three Clone Wars comics, all three have been top of the line, with an art style that is the perfect comic art. It's not the most realistic, nor the most weird, but in between that line where comic art should be. There are tons of great panels in this one, right up to the last one. Brian Ching, the cover artist, has returned to the Clone Wars comics from his leave since Jabiim, which a great cover of Anakin Skywalker. Finally, there's a change of scenery, with a snow planet. After Jungle, Desert and Urban planets, it's nice to cool down for a while.
What Didn't Work: Sometimes it seems like Anakin is going for every girl in the Jedi Order, even though he's married. It happened in Jabiim and in this one.
Overall, An awesome edition to the Clone Wars lineup. Rating: 9.5/10
