Summary: "Equipment" is a short story set during the events of Shatterpoint, during the battle of Haruun Kal. Taken from the point of view of a clone trooper, CT- 6/774, it opens shortly after Mace Windu ordered the clones into battle to pick him up.

What Worked: I love clone troopers. This story was excellent, because it was written from the point of view of a clone trooper in the height of battle, but it also detailed the battle that occurred in Shatterpoint. This battle was largely ignored in the Shatterpoint, and focused on the clones entering the battle in the skies of Haruun Kal. This is a first hand account of the battle, which was fun and fairly exciting to read.

It was also fascinating to read something from the clone trooper's point of view, for we got to see how they handled their job, each other and their lives. "You take care of your equipment and your equipment will take care of you," was one of the things that the soldier quoted, in addition to adding things about how he fought. The clones were very positive about their abilities, and seem to have few emotions about their skills, which is interesting to read. It was also good to see the clones in the height of battle, using their skills and procedures.

Stover writes with a precision in battle scenes, taking details slowly, and weaving them together excellently. Putting together the clones, fighting and mentalities of the clones, Stover wrote up a pretty good story.

What Didn't Work: Nothing, except that this story was extremely short. If it were longer, more about the battle could have been written.

Overall: Great story, although you should read Shatterpoint to know what is going on. And, it might not be worth it to buy just the toy for the story booklet.
