Clone Wars Adventures Volume 1

Author: Haden Blackman, Ben Caldwell
Artist: Matt and Shawn Fillbach
Publisher: Dark Horse
Publication Date: July 2004

Reviewed by Andrew Liptak

Summary: A digest edition of short adventures from the Clone Wars, inspired by the two Clone Wars series aired on Cartoon Network. In the first story, Obi-Wan and Anakin fight Shadowmen on the planet Nivek. Mace Windu and Saesee Tiin throw some droids around on Iktotch and Kit Fisto fights a new enemy on Mon Calamari.

What Worked: If you liked the Clone Wars series, this is for you. The artwork is drawn in the same style as the series, and retains much of the same style. The stories are short and to the point, and have a quirky attitude towards them. The digest format is interesting, although a little pricey at about seven dollars. Plus it has a cool cover.

What Didn't Work: If you DIDN'T like the Clone Wars series, you'd probably be better off reading this in the store or not bothering entirely. The art, style and dialog is very similar, and I found it to be a bit shallow, as were some of the stories in it. Mace Windu and Saesee Tiin having a droid flinging contest? The idea is horrible, and out of character for both, in my opinion.

Overall: A hit or miss edition of comics, depending on your opinion of the Clone Wars series.

Rating: 5/10
