Significance in the Clone Wars
It was on the Wheel that the Republic first learned about Confederation plans to attack the planet Kamino, the Republic's source of Clones for the Clone Wars. The station is occupied by a large number of individuals, some passing through, others remaining there because they have no place to go. It is full of unsavory people and is a fairly good transfer point for information, which is what the Separatists wanted. Quinlan Vos, a Jedi who had many underworld connections and used them during the war, found the plans after some searching. After a brief gunfight onboard the station, the plans were copied and returned to their correct destination. The station probably outlived the Clone Wars and remained a transfer point for all sorts of things.
