Significance in the Clone Wars
The watery world of Mon Calamari is a vital ship building world in the Republic, and is divided in alliance due to the differing interests of the two species that are native to the planet. The Quarren allied themselves with the Separatists and started to take over the world. The Mon Calamari got Republic help, in the form of several Republic Assault Cruisers and special clone troopers. The world has not fallen to the Confederation due to the efforts of the Republic, but there are continued skirmishes over the planet, as well as cyber attacks on the shipyard mainframe, allowing the Techno Union to steal vital information.
