During the Clone Wars… Month X ABG: Darth Sidious controlled both sides of the Clone Wars through his other identity as Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, and his apprentice Darth Tyranus's other identity as Count Dooku. Darth Sidious used the Clone Wars to destroy the Jedi Knights, turn Anakin Skywalker to the darkside, and increase the political power of his Palpatine identity to the point that he could become Emperor.
After the Clone Wars… Darth Sidious, in his identity as Palpatine, became Emperor of the known galaxy. He ruled for 24 years before he was killed by his apprentice Darth Vader. Vader, who had once been Anakin Skywalker, turned on his master when he attempted to kill his son Luke Skywalker.
