Clone Wars Apprentice: Field Trip to Marzomyr by Anakin Solo-the potted plant & Jedi Knight-John Rolos

PART ONE

Jon Rolos along with the other younglings were looking up at the Jedi knight Kit Fisto. Jon felt increasingly uncomfortable as Master Fisto spoke. Jon had been very uncomfortable and almost afraid of all aliens since alien pirates had captured him when he had been very young. He even felt uncomfortable in the presence of Yoda, though he was not afraid of him. Yoda had tried to help him get over his fears but it had not worked yet. He was not afraid of alien Jedi Masters and other Force sensitives, though he was afraid of all other aliens. Around aliens like Master Fisto and Master Yoda he was just uncomfortable. Very uncomfortable.

Master Fisto had called a halt in class exercises and was briefing them on their field trip to Marzomyr, of which they would be leaving the next morning. He was telling them to make sure they had everything ready and had eaten and dressed by eight o’ clock sharp. They were to meet in the Room of a Thousand Fountains from which they would proceed directly to the Republic transport. After they had stowed their luggage onboard, it would take them directly to Marzomyr. He told them that they would spend two days and two nights exploring the wilderness, meditating on nature to become better attuned to the Force and study. They would possibly take as souvenirs some of the Force-sensitive riverstones that were the trademark of Marzomyr. He even said that if they had time they might visit the local Jedi training center that had been set up because of the Force-sensitive riverstone deposits.

Just like everybody else Jon had been looking forward to this field trip, but he couldn’t help but feel that it would be a lot more fun if the Jedi supervisor were a human and not an alien like Master Fisto who would be supervising the trip. Master Fisto dismissed the class and Jon followed his other classmates out the classroom door. As Jon walked through the halls of the Jedi Temple towards his room, he was just thinking about how he wanted a human to be supervisor. He rounded a corner and bumped right into Jedi Master Matilda Algiira. “Hello, Jon. I was just looking for you. I will get right to the point. Would you like to be my Padawan?”

Jon had once had a dream that an alien Jedi Master had asked him what Matilda just asked him. To him it had been a nightmare. To most students it would have been a great dream; suddenly he was jerked out of his thoughts. “I don’t mean to be impatient, but would you like to?” she said.

“I, uh, I’m not sure, uh. Give me some time to think about it.” He just wanted to say no but he wanted to be polite.

“Well, okay," she said. "I will see you again when you get back from your field trip."

Jon walked into his room and laid down on his bed thinking his nightmare had come true. Alien Jedi Master Matilda Algiira had asked him. He would have to tell her sometime. He couldn’t just put it off. 'Why,' he thought, 'did everything he do involve aliens? Why couldn’t it have been a human who had asked him to be their Padawan? Why couldn’t the supervisor of the trip be human?'

Jon couldn’t sleep that night-thinking about everything that had happened that day. He woke up, got out of bed, and looked in the mirror. His eyes were bloodshot and there were black circles under them. He was yawning and stretching uncontrollably. Then he washed his face, got dressed, and packed his clothes. Forgetting his morning meditation, he walked out of his room toward the mess hall, rubbing his eyes and yawning all the while.
