The Jedi of the Arena by Forceblade

PART ONE: BARRISS OFFEE

As she saw Mace Windu signal them from the balcony, the entire arena lit with lightsabers. Barriss Offee ignited her own. The blue blade shined brightly. Beside Barriss was a duck Jedi she had seen in the Jedi Temple a few times, but didn't know.

The doors of the arena opened and hundreds of battle droids came out. Barriss looked over to another part of the arena where her Master, Luminara Undil was with Jedi Master Shaak Ti. They had to separate to different parts of the arena. Barriss wondered for a moment if both of them or either of them would survive this. She could only hope. If they did die today, they died heroically and bravely, doing what was right.

As her attention was brought to the blaster fire that started, Barriss lifted her blade and charged the battle droids. Taking them out one-by-one, she wielded her blade, cutting them from right, left, right, left, deflecting any bolt tat came her way.

She turned to spot Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi rising from the ground with lightsabers that were thrown to them, deflecting the bolts that came their way. Beside them was Senator Amidala, who was the leader of the opposition to the Military Creation Act. How exactly she ended up in this, Barriss wasn't sure. She just knew that Anakin had been assigned to protect her away from Coruscant after two assassination attempts on her life. The senator grabbed a blaster of a fallen droid and fired from one droid to another. Anakin stayed close to her.

Barriss turned to the seven battle droid in front of her. She took out one, then the two on her side--jumping side ways to avoid the blaster bolts of the remaining droids. As they came at her again, she deflected them and sent them back at the droids, taking two down. She charged the remaining ones, deflecting the bolts that came at her and took them both.

The Force quickly alerted her to her right. A super battle droid fired on her. She deflected the bolts, sending one back at it, but it only stunned it for a second. The new models were tougher, she admitted to herself. She jumped forward, lifting herself with the Force. She landed in back of the droid, turned to face it, and brought her blade from the right, knocking it down to the ground. She then lifted her blade and sent it down at it.

But not tough enough, she thought to herself.

The young Padawan took her blade out of the droid and turned to her right, where blaster bolts came at her. Barriss deflected them, running forward and blocking all the bolts coming in front of her and to her side.

Barriss saw her Master just more than a dozen feet away from her. She ran towards her, blocking the bolts coming at her.

She was now in back of her. Luminara looked at her for second and sent a note of gratefulness through the Force that she was still standing. Barriss did the same.

She could feel Jedi dying around her and saw a number of fallen warriors on the ground. Barriss wondered how many of them would survive this.

Two droids came facing her. Firing at her, she deflected the bolts and sent them back at the droids.

The Force alerted Barriss to something coming from her left. A large, powerful blaster fire came and Barriss quickly jumped out of the way. The blaster fire hit the ground and the pressure through her farther than she wanted to go. The young Padawan hit the ground, but she was ok. Getting up, she continued to deflected the bolt coming at her.

Barriss turned back to where she had jumped from and saw her Master still standing and ok. Luminara was still fighting bravely, blocking any bolt coming at her and any droid coming near her.

Barriss was grateful. She turned back to the fire bolts coming at her and deflected them.

She took out the Geonosian flying toward her and then three battle droids firing at her.

There were less than half of the Jedi standing. They were being drawn back. There were still more droids left. Barriss continued deflected blaster bolts, striking down any droid near her. She grew tired.

Suddenly a bolt got passed her blade and hit her leg. Barriss dropped in pain. The battle continued and she was barely conscious. Things were a bit of a blur and it was hard to hear the blaster fire.

All the noise stopped for a few seconds, then there was a voice. Barriss let herself drift away. Knowing there was chance she would heal. Hoping that Master was still ok.
