CLONE WARS BATTLES
Month 6 after the Battle of Geonosis

Mission to Nar Shadda |  Battle of Haruun Kal | Mission to Null

The Mission to Nar Shadda

Key Characters

Tookarti, Count Dooku, Unnamed Nemoidian, Agen Kolar, Quinlan Vos, Khaleen, Aruk the Hutt, Tholme, Yoda, Mace Windu, Ki-Adi-Mundi.

Setting the Stage

Tookarti is talking to Dooku from a spaceport in Nar Shadda. He tells the Count that everything is going as planned because Boss Vos is selling the codes. Dooku questions Tookarti's allegiance and reminds him that death is the penalty for treachery.

The Battle

Quinlan Vos is sitting in a cantina with Khaleen at his side. He is trying to sell some codes to a Nemoidian who is complaining about the meeting place. Suddenly three armed men tell Quin to freeze. Quinlan ducks down behind a box to avoid being caught in the crossfire. He convinces Khaleen to leave for their speeder then he comes up firing. Agen Kolar arrives with his lightsaber blazing and Vos surrenders. Quinlan claims that the codes were outdated and part of a plan to infiltrate the Confederacy. Agen says that Tookarti has accused Quin of betraying the Republic on Brentaal IV and of trying to sell current codes.

Quin is sitting in the back of the speeder with Agen and the armed men when Khaleen flies up beside them. Quinlan jumps over into Khaleen's speeder. Khaleen fires back at Agen and Quinlan deflects the bolts from Agen's troops as the two of them flee. Their speeder catches fire.  Khaleen expresses her love for him and Quin kisses her cheek. Then he jumps out and she tries to draw off the pursuit. Agen jumps out to confront Quin.

The two of the duel for a while. Then Quin runs off into a cantina.

Meanwhile Khaleen's speeder crashes. She lays motionless on the ground.

Kolar has Quinlan Vos cornered outside the cantina. Six cantina patrons who know Quin try to intervene. Agen is in the process of defeating them when Aruk the Hutt shows up with his guards. Aruk convinces him to leave so as to avoid a diplomatic incident.

Quinlan Vos goes back to the spaceport and confronts Tookarti. The Chadra-fan admits to working for Dooku and pulls a gun on Quinlan. A green lightsaber ignites and Quinlan kills Tookarti.

Khaleen is captured on Agen's ship. The two guards, who are actually disguised clone troopers, are watching her. She is sure that Quin will come and rescue her.

Agen Kolar gives a report to Yoda, Mace Windu, Tholme, and Ki-Adi-Mundi telling them what happened. When his hologram dissolves the four of them discuss the events. It turns out that they lied to Agen. The whole thing was all part of a plan meant to take care of Tookarti and enable Quinlan Vos to infiltrate even higher ranks in the Confederacy.

Outcome

Tookarti is killed. Khaleen is captured by the Republic. Quinlan Vos is believed to be a traitor by everyone except Yoda, Mace, Ki-Adi-Mundi, and Tholme; thus enabling him to infiltrate the Confederacy. The codes, whatever they do, are retrieved by Agen Kolar.

The Battle of Haruun Kal

Key Characters

Mace Windu, Depa Billaba, Phloremirlla "Flor" Tenk, Lorz Geptun, Nick Roshtu, Liane "Chalk" Trevval, Lesh, Besh, Kar Vaster, Prouk, Thaffal, Iolu, CT-6/774, Terrel Nakay, Urno, Nykl, Keela, Pell, Palpatine, Yoda

Setting the Stage

Shortly after the Clone Wars began at the battle of Geonosis, the Separatists moved on to the planet Haruun Kal, a jungle world who's system, Al'Har, is a key hyperspace junction, connecting several Separatist worlds together. While the system is not the most important militarily, Haruun Kal's native population is mostly Force-sensitive, a resource that the Republic had to keep from the Separatist government. As the Separatists moved on world, the Republic's army could not afford to maintain a large military presence on Haruun Kal. Instead, the Jedi Council sent a Jedi, Depa Billaba, to train resistance fighters to force the Separatists off world. They ultimately succeeded. Depa however, remained out of contact, and when a hologram appeared, implicating Depa with the murder of civilians, Jedi Master Mace Windu went personally to apprehend his former Padawan learner.

The Mission

Mace describes Haruun Kal in his private journal. The two major races are Korunnai and the Balawai.  Mace is a descendent of the Korunnai. He arrives to his home planet of Haruun Kal in the capital city of Pelek Baw. In the CUSTOMS office, he encountered two Kubaz and a Kitonak and Pho'pheahian comedy team. Mace was forced to bribe a female Neimodian customs worker named Pule so he could get through customs cleanly. He had to get undressed and enter a shower along with the other passengers. Two human capital militia guards checked their bags (and stole items from them) and watched as they passed through the shower. They attacked Mace and he kicked their ass, while he was naked in the shower! He got dressed and left out.

He makes his way to the Republic Intelligence station. The station's boss, Phloremirlla "Flor" Tenk, was a bulky, red-checked, very talkative woman about Mace's age. Flor assembled a team of men to take Mace upcountry to begin to search for Depa. Upon leaving, Mace and Flor were attacked. Flor's arm is shot off and Mace used the Force to pinch her severed artery closed. Mace thinks that guards marching toward them are coming to help, but they end up shooting Mace as well.

Flor dies and Mace is captured by a man named Colonel Geptun.  Geptun knows Mace is a Jedi and that he is looking for another Jedi that has been doing some un-Jedi-like things.  He then allows Mace to leave and gives him his lightsaber back for 3000 credits.  Mace leaves, but gets cornered in an alley by Geptun's men again.  They are trying to capture him again because their weapons are on stun.  Mace's lightsaber loses its charge when he deflects a blaster bolt from one of the mercenaries.  Another man and a group of mercenaries then come to Mace's rescue: he led Mace to the alley in the first place.  Mace calls him "Smiley."  Smiley tosses Mace Depa's lightsaber.  Mace is puzzled as to why Smiley would have it.

Mace is with the group of 4 Korunnai that "rescued" him as they loot the dead bodies in the alley.  They are part of the Upland Liberation Front (ULF). The leader is Smiley, whose real name is Nick Rostu.  The other Korunnai with him are a female named Chalk, and 2 brothers named Lesh, the older of the 2, and Besh, who never spoke.  It is revealed they they were sent by Depa to find Mace.  Nick reveals that the team Flor assembled to take Mace to Depa was the mercenaries that were killed in the alley.  Mace figures out that Chalk was the one that killed Flor.  Nick then says that Flor worked for the CIS and was leading Mace to a seppie (nick name for Separatists) Intel camp where Mace would be tortured.  Mace then makes the decision to follow the Korunnai into the jungle to find Depa.

Mace and the members of the ULF traveled into the jungle on grassers.  He was reacquainted with the akks, dog-like creatures that protected the group from jungle predators.  Mace learned from Nick why the Korunnai and the Balawai fight in the Summertime War.  He learned why Chalk, Lesh and Besh hate the Balawai. Chalk was molested by them.  Besh was once kidnapped by them and got his fingers and tongue chopped off: that's why he can't talk. Nick talked about De-Orbiting Kinetic Anti-emplacement Weapons (DOWKAWs) and air patrols that the militia employs. He also told Mace about the how the Korunnai care for the grassers. While Mace was sleeping in his tent, a drunken Lesh came in. Lesh threatened Mace several times, but Lesh didn't try anything. Lesh mentioned Depa and what she taught him. Through the Force, Mace sensed that Lesh would die the next day.

The group traveled and got spotted while out in the open by militia air patrols.  Lesh was in trouble.  A Gunship released flames on the area they were traveling in, creating an inferno.  They ran.  Three gunships were still shooting fire at the group and their animals.  The grassers were all killed and two of the three Force-bonded akks were killed.  Only Chalk's akk, Galthra, survived because she was with Mace, trying to take out the gunships.  Mace used Vapaad and the Force to destroy one of the ships and cripple the other two.  Mace felt unsatisfied from that battle and wished he'd destroyed the two ships that got away.  He had "blood fever."

After the fight, the group gathered their supplies from the charred grassers.  Lesh started having convulsions because he got infected with wasp larvae that ate away at his nervous system.  That is why he acted strangely the night before with Mace.  They found out that Chalk and Besh had the larvae too.  Mace had to use his and Depa' lightsabers to kill (or vaporized) Lesh, taking him out of his misery and ensuring that the larvae didn't spread.  They buried the rest of his remains.  Nick suggested they go to a lor pelek--a witch doctor--to heal Chalk and Besh.  One named Kar Vastor was with Depa's group.  Her group would be to far and take too long to reach on foot, so Nick made another suggestion--to go to a close by Balawai settlement and use a comm unit to call for help.  They put Chalk and Besh in a stasis form (thanatizine-bounded) and decided to take that path.

Mace speaks in his journal recounting the past events and an argument he had with Nick.  Nick talks about how Depa is not evil, but kind.  He also talks more about the Summer Time War.  Nick goes off to find the lor pelek to heal Chalk and Besh.  Mace then hears screams from children in the jungle.  He sees a steamcrawler stuck in some lava flow with 5 Korunnai children inside.  Terrel Nakay was an older boy and the leader, Urno and Nykl were young boys, Keela was an older girl, and Pell was also a girl.  Terrel doesn't like Jedi, and the kids think Mace is a bounty hunter or something.  Mace sees Balawai steamcrawlers coming towards them.  He devises a plan to hold the children "hostage" to get away.

Six Balawai (at least 2 men and 1 woman) came into the bunker where the Mace and the kids were. Pek Rankin was the leader. Mace released Terrel and used the rest of the kids to "barter" with the adults. All of a sudden the bunker was attacked and Mace convinced the untrusting Balawai that he would help them against the Korunnai that were attacking. Terrel sees his lightsaber and starts to sneer at Mace.  Mace used the Force and Vapaad again to fight. Akks howl outside the bunker and in walks Kar Vaster and six Korunnai. They attacked.

Mace and Vaster sparred a bit. Then Kaster asked about Chalk and Besh.  Mace told him where they were and Kaster went after them. Terrel had tried to kill Chalk and Besh while they were helpless and Vaster killed Terrel. The thanatizine kept the two Korunnai from bleeding to death.  Mace was pissed that Terrel was killed.  Kaster leaves. Nick and other Korunnai show up and Mace leaves Besh and Chalk in the care of them.  He goes off to find the children and their parents. He brings the Balawai children out of the bunker and then encounters who he's been looking for the whole time, Depa Billaba. She says Mace shouldn't have come.

Mace realizes that Depa was just a hallucination. Vaster also confirms this. Vaster calls the Force, pelekotan. Mace and the group continue toward Depa's actual location, which is an hours ride away. Vaster tell Mace the Balawai prisoners (even the children Mace rescued) will be released to the jungle with no supplies. It's called tan pel'trokal--jungle justice. Mace decides to leave the path and take Nick and the prisoners to the closest landing strip so that the militia can pick up the prisoners. Vaster is displeased. Mace doesn't care.

Mace and the Balawai prisoners travel to the landing strip along with 2 of Vaster's Akk Guards and their akk dogs. Mace had to put the Akk Guards in check by kicking their asses. Mace then makes Nick a Republic Major. The Balawai ship comes to rescue the prisoners. Vaster shows up with the other Akk guards and he is angry. Mace and Vaster exchange words again, then Mace sees Depa. The two old friends talk and then Vaster and Mace have a fierce battle.

Vaster ends up hurting Mace. Mace plans to call down the Republic ship called the Halleck that will transport him, Depa, and Nick off the planet the next day. The group finds a cave that will keep them safe from detection. Chalk and Besh are still in thanatizine suspension. Mace finds out how the Balawai defeated the Separitists and how she orchastrated several killings. He also finds out that the CIS had been using Pelek Baw as a base to repair, refit, and resupply droid starfighters used to picket the Al'Har system. Mace then puts Depa under arrest for her crimes.

They finally reached the Lorshan Pass where Mace expected to leave the planet. Nick discovers Mace's diary and the Jedi Master tells Nick all about it. Nick then senses a spy nearby. It was Kar Vaster. Mace puts Vaster under arrest for murdering Terrel Nakay. The fight again and Mace ends up pushing Vaster over a ledge. Nick shots at Vaster with his blaster. Mace yells for him to stop and they all look up and see at least DOKAWs in the air.

The Battle

Mace was being tracked during this time, and when he arrived at the Korunnai settlements, the Balawai began a massive assault against their enemy culture. As the Balawai attacked, Mace contacted the Republic Cruiser Halleck, which contained a sizable fighting force of twenty landing ships and a regiment of clone troopers. When he called, the Halleck was under attack by a large number of droid starfighters, which overwhelmed the cruiser's defenses and inflicted heavy damage.

Clone trooper 6/774 was an auxiliary heavy weapons specialist on the Halleck. He and the other clone troopers on the Republic medium cruiser were summoned from the Ventran system on the Gevarno Loop to come and extract Master Windu from Haruun Kal. The Halleck had 20 Jadthu-class landers, a heavy regiment of infantry, an escort of 6 starfighters, and 5 RHE LAAT/i-s. Five gunships left the Halleck. None returned.

As soon as the Halleck entered the system, they came under attack by 128 droid starfighters! The landers were undocked and getting picked off.  Repulserpack troopers (RP troopers) spilled out into space as the landers were being destroyed. Droid starfighters were flying into the RP troopers and getting blown up themselves. Most of the landers managed to escape, but the droids followed them planet side.

CT-6/774 fought heroically. He managed to fire the final shot of the orbital battle because the droid starfighters followed the landers to the surface.  He saw his LAAT/i being shot at by a droid starfighter on his way to the surface. With the help of a RP trooper, he destroyed the droid starfighter and retrieved his gunship. They gathered the drifting survivors and waited for 2 standard days for the Republic task force to arrive.

Mace ordered the landers to be loaded and land at his location, while the Halleck would withdraw out of the system. As the Balawai militia deployed to fight the Korunnian forces, Windu, Billaba, Vastor, Rostu and Chalk took control of a militia gunship, which they used to start attacking the starfighters are they followed the landers. Nineteen landers made if off the Halleck, and unprotected by a fighter escort, twelve remained. Using his gunship against the Starfighters, Mace was able to confuse the droid brains into attacking their own forces rather than the landers, allowing them to land and drop their troops.

Once the landers were down, Mace made another order. The Republic forces would attack Pelek Baw, which controlled the Separatist droids. Two landers remained back at the first engagement zone, Lorshan Pass, while the other ten moved to the city.

One lander moved to the city, leaking radiation, and requested permission to land, and that the ship's reactor had been breached. The other nine Landers flew down below the planet's gaseous surface to hide from the orbital satellites. While the damaged lander distracted the sensor techs, the rest of the forces appeared in the city, taking the defense crews by surprise. The clone troopers took control of the spaceport without loosing a soldier, and manned the defenses themselves. However, the droid starfighters returned before the controls could be destroyed, and were ordered by the planetary militia to destroy anything that took off from the spaceport, pinning the Republic forces there. At the same time, the other two landers Mace had left behind were also under attack.

Mace, Chalk and Nick located the militia leader, Geptun, and convinced him to surrender. On their way back to the command center, Chalk was killed when their gunship was hit by enemy fire. At the same time, Depa and Kar Vastor, took control of the clone troopers and sent them to attack the starfighters, trying to destroy the city. Mace returned to the command center with Geptun and two units of clones, where they fought their way in, and were able to de-activate the droid starfighters. Depa attempted to kill Mace but failed. Realizing what she had done, Depa fell into a coma. Vaster was wounded when Nick shot at his vibro-shields.  Nick killed the remaining Akk Guards, Prouk, Thaffal, and Iolu, but got seriously wounded.  The twenty-four clone troopers were killed, but the battle ended.

Outcome

Haruun Kal is taken by the Republic.  Mace had Geptun formally surrender to the Republic, and after the battle over the city was finished, the Republic sent in reinforcements to Haruun Kal, where they were used as a police force between the Korunnai and Balawai. Windu arrested Kar Vastor on the charge of war crimes, and sent him to the Jedi Temple, where he would be kept under guard. In addition to stopping the war on Haruun Kal, Mace was also able to convince Geptun to join the Republic military, along with a large number of the planetary militia, supplementing the Republic forces. Depa remained in a coma, her recovery unknown. Should she awake, she too would face war crime charges.

The Mission to Null

Key Characters

Lorian Nod, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Count Dooku, Robior Web, Samish Kash, Floria, Dane.

Setting the Stage

Many years before the Battle of Geonosis.

Dooku and Lorian Nod were young Jedi students. Dooku was asked to become the padawan of Thame Cerulian. Wanting a master of his own, and thinking it's power might help him, Lorian stole a Sith Holocron. When Oppo Rancisis found him with it he blamed Dooku. Angered by such a betrayal, Dooku wounded Lorian with his training saber in what was supposed to be a fun exercise. He then told the council the truth and Lorian was expelled.

Much later, Dooku and his padawan Qui-Gon Jinn were escorting an important senator.  A band of pirates, led by Lorian, captured the senator and got away.  Dooku and Qui-Gon tracked down Lorian and captured him, but not before the senator died.  Dooku would have killed Lorian if Jinn had not persuaded him otherwise.

Later on, when Qui-Gon Jinn was traveling with his student Obi-Wan Kenobi, they stopped over on a planet called, Junction 5.  They found out that Lorian was leading the planet through a group called the guardians.  The only reason they came to power was because a neighboring planet supposedly had a weapon called, Annihilator.  With the help of the local resistance Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan were able to find proof, and show it to the people, that the weapon was a hoax to get Lorian into power.  Nod was sent to prison yet again.

When Lorian was released from prison he once again became ruler of Junction 5.  But this time he was elected legitimately and he ruled to the satisfaction of the people.  Together with Samish Kash - the leader of Delaluna, and the leaders of Bezim, and Vicondor he formed an alliance where all four planets would aid each other.

Dooku asked the four leaders of the alliance to come to a meeting with him at his villa on Null.  The support of the Alliance was very important because Station 88 Spaceport - which was built by Junction 5, Bezim, Vicondor, and Delaluna - was a gateway to the mid-rim systems.  Lorian told the Jedi that he wished to sway the alliance toward the Republic.  He requested help from the Jedi.  Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice Anakin Skywalker were sent to the planet to see how they could help.

The Mission

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker traveled to Null, disguised as hunters.  They discovered from an innkeeper that all the buildings on the planet are made of stone.  With no mortar joining them together, one pull of the keystone could bring down the entire wall.  Obi-Wan noticed a man with a suspicious amount of weaponry and a mysterious woman in a green cloak.  The two Jedi were taking walk through the village streets later on, when suddenly, they heard someone shout.  "Samish Kash has been assassinated!"

When they reached the scene of the crime they saw Samish's body being loaded into an speeder.  A sorrowful Lorian Nod climbed into the speeder that took the dead Samish away.

Obi-Wan noticed the two people from the inn talking.  The woman seemed very upset at Samish's death.  When her hood fell back Obi-Wan finally realized who they were.  They were Floria and Dane, a pair of brother and sister Bounty Hunters that him and Anakin had run into on Ragoon-6.  They told the two Jedi that they were Samish's bodyguards.  Suddenly Dane caught site of something and flew off on his swoop.  The others followed as fast as they could on foot.  Anakin jumped onto Dane's swoop and got him to stop.  Dane said that he had seen someone who he recognized as a Bounty Hunter.  With Dane's permission, Anakin and Obi-Wan took the swoop to continue the pursuit.  The Bounty Hunter jumped off his swoop and Anakin thought they were going to catch him.  That was when they collided with the web of a Reclumi Spider.  They used their lightsabers to escape the web, but by then the assassin had gotten away.  They suspected he had made it back to the village.

Upon reaching the village they caught sight of the assassin.  Before they could go after him he melted into a huge crowd of villagers, who were accusing Floria and Dane of killing Samish.  After giving the villagers some animal skins, Obi-Wan and Anakin were allowed to see the prisoners.  Dane remembered that the assassin was a man named Robior Web, who used to be one of the Junction 5 guardians.  Obi-Wan and Anakin decided to have a talk to with Lorian Nod, who used to lead the guardians.

Questioning Lorian was a dead end. He protested innocence and they got nothing out of him. The two Jedi decided their next step would be to find Robior, and Web knew exactly where to find a swoop.

Robior Web had killed the spider and was having no luck in freeing the swoop from the wen when Obi-Wan and Anakin showed up. He began to run, and the Jedi decided to follow from a distance. Robior made his way to the landing platform. There he met Count Dooku. Anakin wanted to rush Dooku, but Obi-Wan stopped him. They noticed Super Battle Droids being unloaded from Dooku's ship.

They were pondering their next move when Anakin realized something.  From the way she acted he could tell that Floria was in love with Samish.  Obi-Wan asked what this had to do with anything.  Anakin simply replied that love is always relevant.

They visited Floria and Dane. Floria told them that Samish had not really been killed. He was only injured. He  Lorian decided to keep his survival a secret.

Realizing that the meeting with Dooku was trap, Anakin, Obi-Wan, Floria and Dane headed to where the meeting was to take place.

The four of them managed to sneak into the meeting room and hide in the shadows.  They watched as the members of the Alliance decided to stay with the Republic.  Then a hidden door opened and a dozen Super Battle Droids came in led by Robior Web.

Obi-Wan and Anakin ignited their lightsabers.  They worked together to fight the droids and protect the other people in the room.  They saw Dooku flee the room and Lorian follow.  Obi-Wan killed Robior Web, but there were still droids left.  Then they remembered about keystones.  Anakin used the force to pull out the keystone.  The entire wall came crashing down and most of the droids were crushed by it.  They easily dispatched the rest.  They wanted to go help Lorian but the doorway was blocked by the rubble.

Lorian Nod faced Dooku.  It was a personal confrontation.  As they fought they taunted each other with all the emotion of enemies who had once been friends.  But it wasn't much of a fight.  Lorian knew he would lose.  He knew he would die.  At least he could disable Dooku's transport so that the Jedi could catch him.  But no.  He wasn't even able to do that.  As he shot his blaster in the place to sabotage the transport, a lightsaber sliced through him.  His shot went wild.

As he lay there dying his first thought was that he had failed.  Then he noticed the various colors and textures in the rock and he wondered how many things he had missed.  He drew the force around him and smiled as he let go his life.

Outcome

The four planets of the Alliance decide to stay with the Republic.  Lorian Nod is killed by Dooku.  Robior Web is killed by Obi-Wan.
