The Battle of Brentaal IV

Key Characters

Shaak Ti, Plo Koon, Agen Kolar, Shon Kon Ray, Quinlan Vos, Shogar Tok, Count Dooku, Ryyk, Sagoro Autem, Lyshaa

Setting the Stage

On Brentaal IV, a clone trooper squadron led by Jedi General Shon Kon Ray flies into a trap. Just before Jedi Master Kon Ray’s gunship is destroyed, he manages to relay a message to Jedi Master Plo Koon, reporting that they have been grossly misinformed and that the rebel ion cannons are fully operational, shielded and blowing the Republic landing craft out of the sky. Most of the Republic troops have been lost before reaching the objective, and Shon Kon Ray advises them to withdraw. On the ground, a clone trooper informs Jedi General Shaak Ti that they have lost contact with General Kon Ray’s ship. Ti orders the clones to keep fighting.

Rebel Commander Shogar Tok mentions to a hologram of Count Dooku, leader of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, that he should be out on the battlefield, leading his troops instead of staying behind in his headquarters. Dooku tells him to be patient as he is indispensable: Tok alone has rallied his people against the yoke of the Republic, thus he cannot be replaced. Dooku orders Tok to stand his ground and stay alive as he will send in more Confederacy armies from the Mirgoshir system and on Muunilinst as soon as they become available.

On the battlefield, Jedi Master Shaak Ti contacts Jedi Master Plo Koon, reporting that they are compromised and that all of the Republic landing craft have to be recalled immediately. In orbit around Brentaal IV in one of several Acclamator-class assault ships, Koon tells her that they have already done that, and reports that they have lost more than a quarter of their forces. He mentions that if Shogar Tok’s insurrection is allowed to succeed, the Republic may lose access to the Perlemian Trade Route and access from Brentaal to the Tion Cluster will be impeded. Ti mentions that Tok’s headquarters is shielded and that enemy ion pulse cannons prevent the Republic from landing enough troops to successfully assault it. She reports that she is cut off from the bulk of her troops, mentioning that Agen Kolar and his troops survived their landing but that their current situation is unknown, with the enemy closing in. Plo Koon tells Shaak Ti that the holomap of the world shows a fortress-like structure, a prison, is located just north of her location. Ti reports that she will try to reach it and try to rally her troops from there.

The Battle

Outside the gates to the prison, Jedi General Shaak Ti and a clone trooper notice that fighting is going on within. They enter the prison and manage to rescue what is left of the prison population from Brentaal rebels: the Human male Saguro Autem, a Wookiee named Ryyk and a Zeltron female named Lyshaa. Shaak Ti immediately recognizes Lyshaa as she is the one who killed Fe Sun, one of her former Padawans, and Ti put her into jail for that. Ti senses another prisoner and heads towards the solitary confinement ward where she breaks open a cell. The broken Jedi Quinlan Vos stumbles out, mentioning that she should not be on Brentaal. Ti replies that the Republic received his message that the way for an attack was clear. As ex-guardian gun-for-hire Korto Vos, Quinlan infiltrated Brentaal IV. He tells her that he did not send the message and explains that right after he found out the tower was operational, they were jumped as Shogar Tok’s people were waiting for them. Everyone else with Vos died. Ti mentions that the transmission code received by the Republic included his code and his prefix, meaning that somewhere there has to be a traitor working from inside the Republic. Then, Shaak Ti has an idea how they might win the battle for Brentaal IV after all. She contacts Jedi General Agen Kolar who is in a fierce fight with the Brentaal rebels, telling him that she needs a diversion on the north side of Tok’s headquarter fortress. She plans to infiltrate the fortress from the south end. Once inside, her team will attempt to disable the cannon, destroy the shield generator or take Shogar Tok. Shaak Ti contacts Jedi Master Plo Koon, instructing him to make as if the Republic withdraws as soon as her team is inside Tok’s fortress. He is to return in four standard hours and relaunch the attack as Ti expects to complete her mission within that time.

Inside the prison on Brentaal IV, Quinlan Vos mentions that Shaak Ti’s infiltration team is a little thin with the two of them and a clone trooper. But Ti appoints the released prisoners as volunteers of her mission, since they will be surely killed if the stay inside the prison. Lyshaa successfully manages to secure their freedom if the mission succeeds. As the infiltration team leaves the prison, Jedi Quinlan Vos leads them into the sewers. Once inside the sewers, the fortress’s shielding begins interfering with their comms, and Jedi Master Shaak Ti sends out a last message: She tells Jedi Master Plo Koon to start his retreat and tells him to contact Jedi Master Agen Kolar who is to retreat or surrender, whatever he sees fit. Suddenly, Ryyk begins to growl, and Shaak Ti mentions that the Wookiee smells something. She senses danger too, and then they are attacked by a giant reptilian scrange. An enraged Ryyk engages the scrange, but is killed. Saguro Autem and the clone trooper start blasting the giant creature as Shaak Ti attacks it with her lightsaber, killing it.

When they come to a fork in the sewer system, Jedi Master Shaak Ti tells the clone trooper to try and take out the shield generator while Quinlan Vos and Saguro Autem are to try and disable the tower cannons before the second Republic attack is launched. She will take Lyshaa with her and try to capture Shogar Tok. Before they separate, Ti mentions that only one missions needs to succeed to give the Republic a chance to win the battle. Elsewhere in Shogar Tok’s headquarters, Jedi Master Agen Kolar and his troops are being questioned after their surrender. Kolar mentions to Count Dooku’s hologram that Jedi Master Shaak Ti has been slain as he felt her death in the Force. Dooku does not believe him and orders Tok to send out a detail to find Ti’s body and confirm her death. The prisoners are transported into holding cells until they decide the most festive way to dispose of them. In a corridor, Jedi Quinlan Vos, the clone trooper, and mercenary Saguro Autem decide to take advantage of the prisoner-transport. With the clone trooper acting as prisoner, Vos and Autem continue their way into the fortress. Along the way, Saguro Autem tells Vos that he was once a Senate Guard, but that he killed his brother in the line of duty, alienating his wife from him who left him with his children. He left the Guard and became a mercenary and eventually wound up in jail after being double-crossed by his former Devaronian partner. Vos and Autem split with the clone trooper who heads for the shield generator.

In the meantime, Jedi Master Shaak Ti and Lyshaa are searching the complex for Brentaal rebel leader Shogar Tok. Lyshaa asks Ti when she is going to kill her, and just at that moment the Jedi Master saves her from an automated protection device known as a lightstorm chamber. After they are both safe, Ti notices that her communicator is disabled by a stray beam. After they locate Tok, Lyshaa uses her Zeltron abilities to lower his defenses. When he is at his weakest, Ti jumps in and tells Tok that his troops have to stand down and that Brentaal IV has to accept the Republic back as they are their true friends. Suddenly, Ti is hit by a blaster bolt fired by Lyshaa, making Tok come to his senses. As Ti hits the ground, Lyshaa explains that the Jedi was using her mind control powers to get him to surrender, and also informs the rebel leader that other agents are at work right now to disable his shield generator and sabotage his ion cannons. She tells him that the Republic will launch another attack within a few hours. Shogar Tok immediately alerts all security units inside his headquarters. Jedi Quinlan Vos and former Senate Guard Saguro Autem are hard at work trying to re-wire the ion cannon’s energy cables into a feedback loop, making the power unit overload and explode. Just as they are finished, they are surrounded by Shogar Tok’s security forces.

Close to the fortress’ shield generators, the clone trooper trying to disable them is shot down by Shogar Tok’s alerted security forces. They leave the trooper for dead and inform Tok that the shield generator is secure. The Republic fleet led by Jedi Master Plo Koon has returned in orbit around Brentaal IV and is ready to launch a second attack, trusting that Jedi Master Shaak Ti’s infiltration team succeeded in their objectives.

In Shogar Tok’s headquarters, the rebel commander is informed of the return of the Republic fleet, and he orders his forces to treat the coming attack the same way as they did the last one. Still lying on the floor, Jedi Master Shaak Ti comes to and activates her lightsaber. Tok activates his vibro-axe and engages the exhausted Jedi Master.

At the shield generator, the shot-down clone trooper comes by and realizes that the rebels have left him for dead. He climbs onto the power grid of the generator and locks his blaster rifle on overload. At the ion cannon’s firing station, the captured Jedi Quinlan Vos mentions to Saguro Autem that they have to get out as the Brentaal rebels only found the sabotage he intended them to find. Using his Force powers, their guards are overwhelmed and the two manage to escape. At the shield generator, the clone trooper’s weapon overloads, causing an explosion which triggers a series of explosions from the shield generator. And as the ion cannons lock in on the incoming Republic attack ships, their weapons overload and explode, causing the destruction of the firing station.

In his private quarters, rebel commander Shogar Tok is still engaged in a fight with Jedi Master Shaak Ti as they hear the explosions. Ti mentions that the Republic’s victory is now ensured and tells Tok to surrender to avoid further loss of life. When he refuses, Ti kills Shogar Tok with her lightsaber. A shocked Lyshaa runs away and walks right into another lightstorm chamber resulting in her death. Meanwhile, Jedi Quinlan Vos and former Senate Guard Saguro Autem free the clone troopers from Jedi General Agen Kolar’s squadron and take the tower.

Later, outside the fortress with Republic gunships swarming above, Jedi Quinlan Vos is told that Jedi Master Shaak Ti has been badly hurt and taken to a bacta tank to recuperate. For his part in the infiltration team, the former Senate Guard Saguro Autem is set free and he intends to try and find his family, his son.

Having recuperated in a bacta tank following her mission on Brentaal IV, Jedi Master Shaak Ti tells Jedi Master Plo Koon that she has many questions and no time to ponder them. She questions what they are doing as they fight for the Republic and its ideals. But on Brentaal IV, they have imposed a government on its people that is not of their choice. She wonders what the Clone Wars are doing to them, as Jedi, as the Republic. Koon tells her that it is right to question, even when there are no answers. He proposes that they meditate together as for now, they are simply Jedi and old friends. Tomorrow they will be Jedi Generals again and fight this war.

Outcome

Ryyk is killed by a scrange. Shaak Ti's infiltration team successfully disables the ion cannons on Brentaal IV. Shogar Tok is killed by Shaak Ti. Lyshaa is killed by a lightstorm. Saguro Autem is freed. Shaak Ti questions her loyalty to the Republic.

The Third Battle of Mirgoshir

Key Characters

CIS and Republic Forces

Setting the Stage

While talking to Shogar Tok, the Confederacy leader on Brentaal IV, Dooku said, "I have armies tied up in the Mirgoshir system and on Muunilinst. As soon as they become available, I will send them to you to help secure Brentaal IV."

The Battle

Again it is unclear as to what is happening in the Mirgoshir system. However, judging by how confident Dooku sounded, I would assume that the Confederacy was going to succeed in taking the system once again.

Outcome

The Confederacy takes the Mirgoshir system again?

The Mission to Nivek

Key Characters

Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker

Setting the Stage

Nivek is called the night-world, and for good reason. It is always dark there. Too dark for humans to see clearly, however the natives have no problem at all finding their way around.

The Mission

Obi-Wan and Anakin went to Nivek to find a hidden cache of Confederacy weapons. The natives, who have the advantage of being able to see in the darkness, are assailing them from all sides.

Kenobi decides to have him and Anakin wear blindfolds and use the force as their eyes, stretch out with their feelings.

Witout their eyes to decieve them, the two Jedi rely on the force and are able to sense where the natives are. Their lightsabers swing into action and they defeat the natives that are attacking them. Then Anakin senses the hum of machinery. Obi-Wan follows him to the source where they find the hidden weapons and destroy them.

Outcome

The hidden Confederacy weapons on Nivek are destroyed

The Battle of Iktotch

Key Characters

Mace Windu, Saesse Tiin, Giant Super Battle Droid

Setting the Stage

Mace Windu and Saesse Tiin led the Republic army on Iktotch.

The Battle

Clone Troopers marched into battle led by Mace Windu and Saesse Tiin. The two Jedi cut down droid after droid, everything from regular battle droids to bigger droids like the spider-droids.

Finally all that's left is a Giant Super Battle Droid. They try to force push it, but it is too big and powerful. The two Jedi begin to cut it to pieces, but it shoots a missile at each Jedi. They dodge in the air and trick the missiles into homing in on the giant droid. The result is a big explosion that damages the droid badly. Mace and Saesse easily finish it off.

Throughout the whole intense battle the two Jedi non-chalantly debate the merits of their respective strategies.

Outcome

The Republic won the Battle of Iktotch

The Battle of Terra Sool

Key Characters

Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, a blue R2 unit (this is probably supposed to be R2-D2 but that doesn’t make sense considering that R2-D2 is with Padmé not Anakin, and furthermore standard R2 units don’t fit in the astromech sockets of Delta-7s)

Setting the Stage

Anakin and Obi-Wan went to Terra Sool to help the local militia free the planet from the Confederacy.

The Battle

Aboard Delta-7 starfighters, Obi-Wan and Anakin engage in an aerial dogfight with droid starfighters in the skies of Terra Sool. The planet’s atmosphere is wreaking havoc with their sensors. Flying blind, Obi-Wan happens upon an enemy airship -- a huge hovering battle platform. The airship is firing in all directions at the fighter planes of the local militia. Obi-Wan flies directly towards the platform and skids across its top deck, mowing down many battle droids standing in the way. When the fighter comes to a halt, battle droids gather around it. Obi-Wan plays dead. Suddenly he bursts from the cockpit and defeats the battle droids with his lightsaber.

Over the comlink Obi-Wan tells Anakin that he’s cleared the upper deck and that he’s going to find the bridge and shut the ship down. Anakin’s R2 unit picks up some droid chatter on the communications channels and Anakin flies off to check it out. Suddenly he comes upon dozens more of the floating battle platforms, similarly engaged in combat with the local militia ships.

Obi-Wan fights his way down to the bridge of the battle platform and defeats the droid pilots. Anakin has crashed on another platform airship and is fighting droids there. Obi-Wan pilots his airship to Anakin’s location, and sees that the enemy has fired missiles down towards the surface. “They’re going to raze the planet,” Anakin observes. He leaps out into the open air and chops one missile in half with his saber. Ricocheting back and forth between the various fighters and ships, he cuts through each missile and lands back on the airship’s deck. Another wave of missiles are still in flight. Arms outstretched, Anakin uses the Force to shove one battle platform into the path of the missiles. Needless to say, the airship goes boom.

After the battle is over, Obi-Wan tells Anakin, “You’ve become quite a good pilot, Anakin. I think the learner has finally become the master.” A distant look in his eyes, Anakin replies, “Only in the sky, Master Kenobi. Only in the sky....”

Outcome

The Republic retakes Terra Sool.

The Battle of Nadiem

Key Characters

Luminara Unduli, Barriss Offee, General Greivous

Setting the Stage

From Threadneedle Canyon, Nadiem, an ARC trooper announces that the droid army is close to the city as Jedi Master Luminara Unduli and her Padawan Barriss Offee lead the evacuation of civilians off the planet. The Jedi convince the civilians to bring the bare-minimum on the ship. The ARC commander then relays a message that his group has ran into a group of refugees who were slowed by a ill man among them. Unduli sends Barriss and a squad of commandos to help hurry them along.

The Battle

General Grievous gets word that the droid army is ready to ambush the Republic forces in the canyon.

Unduli receives word that Jedi Master Saesse Tiin's air fleet turned away the Separatis fighter squadrons and relays that information to Barriss. Barriss reports that she and her troops won't fit on the transport since there were more refugees than expected. She tells her Master that she and the clone troopers will find another way to the evac site.

The ARC suggests that they set off explosives in the narrowist part of the canyon to slow the droids' advance, but Barriss has a better idea. She plans to let the Separatists think they have destroyed her group and allow them to pass right over them. After the droid army passes, Barriss and the clones climb to the top of the canyon with plans to set off the explosives they were going to use in the ambush.

The battle is at full blast and the droids seem to be winning when they realize they are being attack from behind. A retreat must be ordered. Then Barriss and her team set off the explosives, toppling the canyon on the droid army. Grievous angrily crushes his holoprojector!

Outcome

The Republic sucessfully thwart the Separatist's advance on Nadiem and destroy a cliff-side in the process. Erosion on Nadiem hasn't been this bad in a millennia!

The Mission to Unnamed Planet

Key Characters

Mace Windu, Count Dooku, alien mad scientist of unknown origin

Setting the Stage

The Republic, specifically in the form of Mace and some clone troopers, are fighting evildoers on a planet whose name is not given.

The Mission

Mace and several clone troopers are flying over a jungle aboard a Republic gunship. Suddenly a missile comes flying up and shoots off one of its wings, causing it to crash. Mace awakens lying against a boulder, with dead clones lying all around the area. After making burial cairns for the fallen clones, he runs away through the wilderness.

He starts to cross a wood-and-rope bridge across a canyon, and is fired upon by a battle droid on the other side. He continues forward through the volley of poorly-aimed blaster bolts, leaps up into the air when the bridge splits, and lands on the battle droid with lightsaber drawn, slicing it in two. More battle droids arrive; Mace chops them to bits. When the droids are all defeated he spots a large piece of equipment guarded by two super battle droids. He cuts down the super battle droids, carves a hole in the top of the device with his lightsaber, rips out a piece of its innards, and flings it away. The component explodes in midair.

In space above, a green alien points out the window towards the planet and says, “Behold, Count Dooku -- the power of the Planet Killer -- the ultimate weapon.” There is a pause. Nothing happens. Flustered and frightened, the alien doesn’t understand why it didn’t trigger. “There should be a big blast! A big light!” Believing the alien has tried to sell him a defective weapon, Dooku tells his battle droid guards to take the alien away. “B-but -- the detonator must have malfunctioned!” the alien cries. Peering out the window at the untouched planet, Dooku says, “My colleagues and I shall simply continue the plans for our own ‘planet killer’.”

Outcome

Mace Windu disables the Confederacy weapon of mass destruction. Dooku continues with the plans that will eventually become the Death Star.
